Hon. Dr. Abd’Hakeem AbdulLateef

Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef is a Nigerian lawyer, Islamic preacher, and politician. He holds an LLB and LLM from the University of Lagos, an MBA from a business school in the Netherlands, and completed his PhD at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Born on August 21, 1967, he is of Awori origin from Ejigbo in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

In his public life, Hon. AbdulLateef has served in multiple capacities in Lagos State government. He was a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary & Public Petitions, Special Adviser on Political & Legislative Matters under Governor Fashola, and later Commissioner for Home Affairs under Governor Ambode. He also served as Amir-ul-Hajj of Lagos State. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), following confirmation by the Senate.

Dr. AbdulLateef’s Islamic work and preaching have a strong social media presence: he produces daily religious content (Adhkār, Tafsir, lectures) in multiple Nigerian languages (English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Pidgin) to reach diverse audiences. His work emphasizes religious harmony, peace, justice, and practical faith-based guidance for life. He also operates institutions like Al-Farouq Nursery/Primary/Secondary School, Markaz Abdullateef Centre for Qur’an Memorization, and runs his online academy to teach Qur’an, hadith and Islamic sciences to students across countries.
